Disappointed. We made the drive out there after going to see our wedding venue and cake tasting only to find out that the hours posted are wrong and they don't open until 3pm. What was most upsetting is several staff watched us try to open the door and ignored us and even walked in the other direction! Someone finally opened the door to tell us they were aware that the online hours were wrong but they used to be open that early. Not very helpful when you are hungry and the closest decent place is a 20 min drive! I suggest that gets fixed to avoid others being inconvenienced.
We have been Friday night regulars for quite a while. The new chef Joe Z specials are worth a new review. You can't beat the view and atmosphere at Vera's and our server Debbie was great, attentive and very friendly, can't say enough good about her service! We like either the wings or crab balls for appetizers, both are cooked perfectly and taste so much better than most other places. We decided to try the new Chef Joe Z's Friday night specials for dinner and they were amazing! My wife Lori got the Red Louisiana Jambalaya and she LOVED it. Plenty of shrimp, chicken and ham served over rice with a red sauce that wasn't too spicy for me to try, but had enough of a kick to make her happy! I tried the Fried Green Tomatoes; 3 tomato slices topped with shrimp salad, corn salsa & red pepper aoli which was very tasty and since I ordered bread on the side there was enough to make two overstuffed sandwiches . . .delicious!!! If you aren't in the mood for seafood, the steaks are great and don't overlook the house-made meatballs with marinara on a big crusty roll, my son Dylan's favorite and better than the ones I make at home . . .LOL!!!
Great place. Food great. 25 cent oyster night. Debbie was a great waitress. Awsom.
Great views of the river while you eat. Amazing specials including $2 crabs Thursdays, and these were not missed #2's, they were mostly #1 males (jumbo and heavy). Nice selection of draft beers and good quality mixed drinks. Great outdoor eating on the observation deck in nice weather, but get there early if you want s seat out side, the views cause the outdoors to fill up first. As for the menu other than the specials, the crab dip was good (4*), the calamari could have been cooked longer (3*, soggy not crispy), and the scallops and mixed broil we're excellent (5*).
Waitress was awesome! Crab dip and Nachos, if we hadn't been so hungry.. terribly greasy, yuk. Nice dance floor, drinks were a bit pricy, and a cover charge to see a band I saw the weekend before for free... Id go back only if I had a really good reason.
